KTV + Flower Market

We spent our Saturday with some family friends. Lunch was amazing - we had my all time favourite Peking Duck. Afterwards, we headed off to Nan-Kang to a family's holiday apartment to sing and to swim.
I did not know any Chinese songs so most of the time I just sat there twiddling my thumb and wondering what Dicko and Kyle would say to each of the performances I've heard.
Then they got me to sing Edelweiss and some Disney songs. Oh dear, I've never been more embarassed.

Next day, we went to this produce/food market which is inside Da-An Forest Park.

Dates or prunes.

Huge grapes

Funny how they have sandboxes inside a park

I think I may have fallen in love with these steamed peanuts. I used to take out peanuts when they're in my food - but these are soo soft and full of flavour..yummm.

I fell for this beagle. He looks so sad though, so unlike the normal hyper-active beagles :(
He must be sick.

Huge ears - I just wanted to cuddle it!

It's Christmas time, so what else but POINSETTAS

This caught my eyes. A golden retriever with Hello Kitty backpack and a little maltese in a shopping trolley?! I don't know what to make of it.

Look! I spot them again!

Awesome colour for poinsettas

Ughhh what are they?

Up close and personal...the entire fungi family

Cool water feature.

Looking for a friend for Mr. Lonely. However didn't end up getting one as I didnt wanna carry it around with me all day.

Hermes Christmas Tree.

My store..

Tiffany & Co. Xmas Tree - another example of the materialistic representation of Christmas.

Time for snack

Yummy stuff - I don't really kno what that is though.

Taipei 101

Little drummer boys and girls.

Me and Nao! Cool ear muffs eh?

I met Nao on the plane from Taipei to Sydney 3 years ago as she was sitting next to me. She is Japanese and was heading to Sydney to learn English - so spoke in English back then since it was our only common language.
She has moved to Taipei around a year ago after she graduated from uni in Japan...
When I met up with her this time - I started on conversing with her in English. However after a few blank looks, she spoke to me in perfect Chinese saying that she's pretty much forgotten how to speak English! It is a weird experience speaking to the same person in a totally different language.

Day xx - PwC and Dinner with Dora

Me with the Taiwan team.

Level 27

They have a wall of photos taken by PwC employees for their photo contest.
The theme was something about going Green..

One of their meeting rooms - the back wall in 4 sections was carved based on seasons.

Traditional Taiwanese puppets as decorations

Looking out..

Cozy resting area

Love the chandelier in this meeting room

Drinks bar

and HELLO

Funky clock...they have a different clock in each meeting room

Library with all sorts of magazines.

Sudoku on office walls.

Kitchen area...which is like 5 times the size of the one in Sydney.

Met up with Dora for dinner- havent seen her for like years.

Day 4 or 5? - I've lost track of the days...

How many more days til Christmas?

I've been having quite a few lazy days...I can name 2 of the deadly sins in mind - sloth and gluttony?!

Received an email from Taipei PwC today regarding my visit. It seems like some things have been lost in translation, and they have mis-interpreted my personal out-of-interest visitation as some Sydney VIP going to their office for some serious discussions. The email stated that the CFO would like to meet me too, and she is wondering what I'd like to talk about. In addition, I am to let them know the time in which I will arrive so they may book a meeting room.

Ohhh dear...

I had expected an office tour by some friendly staff and being introduced to different people...and nothing "business" related.

Anyways, so I panicked, and decided to call them up to explain my situation...
Long story short, she confirmed with me again whether a meeting room is needed for tomorrow. I actually laughed out loud on the phone, and then said "No, that won't be necesssary..."

Some pics from today...

I love this Starbucks mug I got in the US 3 years ago during Xmas.
I found this Harrods English Breakfast Tea in the pantry - it has expired for a year...and I drank it for breakfast....yummy. Ugh.

Had lunch at this modern-ish building which hosts training programs that I wanted to register for...classes like "How to drink wine and eat cheese" and "How to host perfect Xmas parties" and "How to walk in heels" and ohhh my favourite "How to be a French women (or smell like one)"...oh yes, I am serious. Crazyyy.

Kitchen and menu on the wall.

This is a 3kg snow crab...costs like $6000 NTD.
