got time for...Cookie Time?

15th July 2011

Yesterday, AK came over to give me these special cookies from...NZ!
You can't be a kiwi and not know about these cookies, aka Cookie Time.
It's almost like a staple!

High school memories...
...putting a Cookie Time into the microwave so that the chocolate chips melt...
...putting the cookie in the freezer so that it's rock hard. Nice.
...having Cookie Time for lunch.
Hmmm.
Yummy.
Unhealthy.
But yummy.

I loved those cookies so much that all my e-mail accounts and online chat handles/aliases were all:
Cookie Time.
I wasn't trying to be cute or wanted to be called a 'cookie'. Ugh.
I just loved those cookies so much!
How sad.
That must've been my 'rebellious' teenage years.

But that was back in high school.
I'm not weird anymore!
:)
I think.

the sun has gone to bed

13th July 2011

Stayed up to update my resume.
Thought it'd be fun to 'randomly' submit it somewhere before I sleep.
Got a call the next day (today) - technical phone interview right on the spot.
No question I sounded like a dork. No biggies though, just for fun ;)

14th July 2011

First thing I saw when I got home were the fluffy clouds + bright moon outside on the balcony.

I see the moon, the moon sees me.
God bless the moon, God bless me!

A little backyard party

*12th July 2011*

I walked past an afternoon garden party...it was noisy and it was in action.
More guests arrived later on.

bubbly

My best friend in primary school is engaged and it's taken me a long time to write a card to her.

Feels like yesterday when we were braiding each other's hair and playing Barbie together.

"...XXX popped the question over dinner that he secretly organised with 2 of our close friends, my entire family and his parents -- they all attended). I never knew, there was so much to consider and how much time and effort is required."

Congrats my dear friend!

Project 365

I know that I haven't completed my 101 goals in 1001 days but AD inspired me to start Project 365 today...

I love the idea of taking a photo a day, even on the most uninteresting day, to capture my year and what I come across everyday in the ordinary life that I lead. And to improve my photography skills/creativity of course. It is not going to be easy I know. There will be days I won't even want to take out my camera and point it in any direction. But I shall try! :)

I probably won't be uploading the photos everyday but hopefully at least once a week...

Here's my very first photo taken in a park using my new Canon s95 (portable point and shoot FTW!)

It's not a great photo but to me it is: blushing. delicate. gentle. blooming. life on a cold winters day.
Might be my favourite colour too.
If I could wear this flower, I would.

from this morning's devotion...

Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. At the LORD’s command they encamped, and at the LORD’s command they set out. They obeyed the LORD’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

-Numbers 9:17, 23

When Moses was leading the Israelites out of Egypt, they had to learn to depend on God for every step of their journey to the promised land. And when they did not do that, they got into troubles...

"If you are at a place in your life where you feel as if you can't take one step without the Lord's help, be glad. He has you where He wants you..."

Things are almost never the way they seem on the outside. Are they ever...

And sometimes you might wish you could pour everything out to somebody who'd understand. Everything. Frustrations. Disappointments. Past hurts. Heartaches. You know, that kinda nasty stuff.

But that somebody is hard to find. It's gotta be somebody who's not going to gossip behind your back after your convo. Someone you could trust. That's a start. Someone who's always there. Someone who has the solution. That'd be good. Someone who can calm and heal your heart. And change you.

And I almost forgot that He was there the whole time for me. Silly me.

Afterall, He's the Author of my life. He knows everything.

My source of strength, love, peace and hope.

And I pray yours too...

brokenness

just been thinking about this broken world...

are we all in the pursuit of some kinda significance from this world that demands us to 'be the best you can be', to prove ourselves constantly (even though it'll never be enough)?

and then, the world chucks you aside when you are no longer 'worthy' or can longer prove your worthiness (even though it may not be in your control).

that's brokenness. well one aspect of the broken world anyway!

Father we ask of You this day, come and heal our land.
Knit our hearts together,
That your glory might be seen in us;
Then the world will know that Jesus Christ is Lord!

dear blog...

i haven't forgotten about you and the goals. i miss you actually while i've been busy with the food blog. i miss how i can type anything here...anything that comes to my mind...a type of freedom that i don't have in other spaces. no editing, no holding back (ok some of course) and straight out BLAH here.

so im just going to say...

1. i'm making peanut butter and nutella popsicles now. not now, like 5 minutes ago. breakfast of the champions!

2. i'm wondering what to do with the daylight...haha yes i'm listening to brooke fraser now too.

3. i'm fascinated with nature and how my skin heals so quickly and how my lips got swollen last night.

4. i seriously think im weird.

5. my heart is indescribably heavy...but im just gonna continue to smile and get through things by His grace.

6. i think phrases like 'killing time' shouldn't be used at all. time is precious...even seconds of our lives.

7. i wore this really nice white pant to work today. love summer white pants. i couldn't stop staring at my pants all day long. haha

8. i go strolling in the park at lunch and i see the cutest baby ducklings with their parents. they are always going around this tiny pond day after day. so i go see them everyday. i wonder if for them, is the pond and its surrounding (e.g. park), THE world? that's as big as they imagine the world to be? i know that's prob how God sees me too. the earth...the universe...bigger than my imagination. fascinating..

9. i was just talking to someone i haven't met on the phone. and i dont know whether its a she or a he. this person has a guy name but im sure it's a more feminine voice. im really confused...guess ill find out soon.

10. i saw a bald kid today so i'm guessing she has cancer. i know people feel extra terrible when they see sick kids...but i feel equal amount of sadness when i see sick old/senior people. they've lived a longer life...and they know more about things...wouldn't this sickness make it harder just because they've been in this world longer?

11. why are my points getting longer and longer. i like short.

12. lots of things happened since my last post. for example, i downed an espresso last week...took the hard stuff like a man! no sugar. whoa.

13. ok maybe time to do something more productive. but yeah, i just want to tell you blog, that i still remember you. are we okay then? forgive me? thanks!
